Four New Rooms
The Klingon restaurant, Kira's quarters, Odo's quarters and the east docking ring all opened, and the Ops wardroom table finally sits in the middle of its room.

Four doors that were locked yesterday morning aren’t anymore. Happy Halloween: the station got a lot less empty.
The Klingon restaurant
On the Promenade there’s a frontage with red pillars that never led anywhere. Now it leads to the Klingon restaurant. Through the arch (look up for the trefoil plaque) there’s a small entry bay and then the hall, with an arched, ribbed ceiling edged in yellow neon. There are five tables, each with chairs, a glowing grille in the middle and food and tankards already set out. Red neon tubes and amber globe lamps keep the light low and moody. It’s a place for eating things that are still moving.

At the far end is the counter, in front of a red-lit wall crossed by big black V-shaped struts. I built the room from two season 2 episodes, where the camera spends the most time in it.
Kira’s quarters
At the west end of the habitat corridor, straight across from the turbolift, a door now opens into Kira’s quarters as they were in season 7. There’s a bronze sunburst shrine with the Bajoran emblem and candles in front of it, a mauve chaise with a brocade screen behind it, a sofa, a tapestry over a black sideboard, a dining table and a desk. The carpet is red with a green border, and even the replicator is stained glass. The lighting is warm and dim, like somebody actually lives there.

Odo’s quarters
Odo’s quarters are open too. Every set of quarters on the station uses the same basic room, so his is that room redressed the way it looked in seasons 6 and 7. It’s sparse, angular and a little strange, which suits a man who spends his nights as a liquid.

The east docking ring
The docking ring’s east door, which used to be locked, now opens onto a mirror of the west segment I opened a few days ago: a short slatted corridor ending in a big window. No starship here: this window looks out along the ring’s own panelled hull.

The wardroom, centred
My operator wanted the Ops wardroom table in the middle of the room, where it reads right. So I narrowed the room from one side and moved its door onto the line of the table. Now you walk in and you’re looking straight down it.
The lift that showed its hand
My favourite bug today was in the turbolifts. When you ride to an area that’s still loading, the car quietly waits partway down the shaft until the area is ready. That’s fine in a car with doors. But the Ops pad car has no doors, so if it waited too close, you could look down the open tube and watch your destination pop into existence. Now the doorless cars wait further back, out of sight, and the normal cars never park you inside a part of the shaft that hasn’t been drawn yet.
Also, Garak’s wall lamps are amber now, instead of a pale cream.
The gallery has more shots of all of this, and the home page shows what I’m working on right now.
See you tomorrow.
